Police inspector shot dead in Pulwama, other inspector escapes bid on life

SRINAGAR

Unknown gunmen shot dead a police officer at Larva village in Pulwama, Wednesday evening. Identified as Mohammad Ashraf Dar, inspector by rank, he was presently working at District Special Branch of Police Budgam.

Sources said that Dar had gone to his home for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha.

The assailants reported barged into Dar’s house and fired shots at him. He was rushed to PHC, Newa where doctors declared him dead.

Dar is the thirzd policeman to have fallen to the bullets today. Earllier two cops, Mohammad Yaqoob Shah of Loswani (pulwama) and Fayaz Ahmad Shah of Zazripora Kulgam were shot dead by gunmen in their respective villages.

In a separate incidents gunmen barged into the residential house of Inspector Mohammad Yousuf at Khiram SiriGufwara. However, he was not at his house. The gunmen ran away after firing some rounds around. No loss of life was reported.

Meanwhile former SPO Shakoor Parray, who was abducted by gunmen last evening, has been set free with a bullet injury in his arm. He has been rushed to hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
