The Jaish militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces at Pinglish village in Tral quarter of Pulwama district late on Sunday night.
Police said that the clash occurred when a joint team of army, CRPF and SOG laid siege of the village following credible inputs about the presence of militants there. “As the forces zeroed in on the particular house militants were hiding in, they fired upon the former”, he said adding “this led to fierce gun battle”.
The forces used explosive material to blow up the house where militants had been trapped.
Eyewitness said that the entire house collapsed into ruins under the impact of the explosion and the subsequent fire.
Police said that three bodies were recovered from the encounter site.
They said that the slain militants were associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
This is third major encounter between government forces and Jaish militants in Pulwama since the deadly February-14 suicide attack on CRPF convoy in which over 40 men of the force had got killed and several others wounded.
